Entrapment
Starring: Sean Connery, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Ving Rhames. 110 min, PG-13
In an attempt to cash in on the success of last year's big romantic caper, Out of Sight, Entrapment fails in all areas; action, excitment, stunts, interest and sex appeal. "The World's Greatest Art Thief," Robert "Mac" MacDougal (Connery) unknowingly teams up with Virginia "Gin" Baker, (Zeta-Jones) an insurance investigator trying to catch Mac, using a combination of wits and her ass.
I'm not sure who lost the script for the film, but they should definetly be fired. The film lacks any interesting dialouge, which could have possibly been overlooked had the stunts not been so lame. Rhames' supporting role as a "associate" of Mac's is his most disappointing to date.
For those of you who go to see film to get all "hot and bothered" should note this film would turn you on as much as wathing your brother and grandmother going at it. Zeta-Jones (28) and Connery (68) try to re-capture the 1940ish idea of the older man and much younger woman mysteries but I don't recall a time when an almost 70 year old man was the "hero" of the story.
The one thing that may keep you interested in this film is the amazing cinematography and locations shoots. But all in all it would be in your best interest to go to your local Blockbuster and rent Out of Sight. If you must see Catherine Zeta-Jones slithering under lasers, wait untill it comes out on video. Rating: C-
