Bottom Line: The story was not as good as the first one but it was still very amusing. Mini-Me and and to a lesser extent Fat Bastard are the highlights of this film. Go to to this movie for good belly laughs. |
Pros: * Mini-Me * Fat Bastard * Sexual Humour * Heather Graham (she's hot) |
Cons: * Heather Graham (she can't act) * The Plot * Some jokes were done better in part 1 * Plot (again) |

When Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) becomes jealous of Austin Powers (also Myers), he decides to build a "time machine" and travel back in time and steal Austin's "mojo" (which is more or less his sex drive). Once the mojo is stolen, Austin must regain it by travelling back in time too. While all this is happening, Dr. Evil once again hatches an evil plan to dominate the world. With the help of a "laser" on the moon (which he calls the "Death Star"), Dr. Evil holds America hostage until they agree to pay. Two new characters are introduced: an obese Scotsman, Fat Bastard, (Myers again) and Dr. Evil's pint-size clone. CIA agent, Felicity Shagwell, Heather Graham, and Michael York are in supporting roles.
The best part of Austin Powers was Mini-Me, Dr. Evil's 1/8th size clone. He was freakin' hilarious in the movie and Dr. Evil and Mini-Me were just great together (look for him again in another sequel). A good addition to the movie was the the character named Fat Bastard. A Scotsman man weighing "one metric tone" is a the person who actually steals Austin's mojo. His truly revolting form of humour was quite hilarious and at times a good break from Doctor Evil and Austin's characters which we are familiar with from the first movie. Like the first movie Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me was filled with sexual innuendo and other suggestive forms of comedy. Also like the first movie there was a female partner for Austin, in this case Heather Graham, who did nothing more than serve as eye-candy for the male portion of the audience. Being a male I felt she did a wonderful job as eye-candy. She was able to work wonders in her part, she could walk, run, stand around, dance, wear several hot outfits like a professional.
As eye-candy Heather Graham does a great job. As an actress she is about as good as Mini-Me (he has practically no lines in the movie). It seems to me that she was there to do nothing more than attract guys. Anyway, her acting was not the only thing that sucked in this movie. The Plot (or the lack of plot) was one of the worst parts of the movie. The plot was not consistent, in the begining the whole reason for Austin's going back in time was because he lost "mojo" which was stolen by Dr. Evil who kept it in a little glass cylinder (his mojo kinda looks like purple worms in clear hair gel). By the end of the movie the cylinder breaks spilling the "mojo" all over the floor but Austin supposedly had his "mojo" inside of him from the start (which is just plain B.S.). As far as the jokes go in this movie, most of them were pretty new but there was one that was in the first movie which was used again in this one. The scene where Austin is naked but there are items are conviently place in front of his "goods". This scene was used to end off the first movie and start off the new one. I personally feel that the movie could have been started in a more original manner.
Well, let's what I thought of Austin Powers: The spy who shagged me. If you enjoy a good laugh and are not looking for a an award-winning plot by all means going see this movie. If you are looking for a movie that's the wind best film look elsewhere.
